Making Valentine's Day Special

With a little planning and extra effort, this can be a holiday to remember!

Valentine’s Day is approaching and this year, planning a “stay-at-home” date is particularly relevant. Whether you are celebrating alone or with your significant other, BFF or the entire family, a little extra effort can make this a sweet and fun holiday to remember!

  • Make breakfast in bed or have an indoor picnic for lunch or dinner. Taking the time to make your sweetheart’s favorite meal or ordering from their favorite restaurant with curbside or delivery options is an excellent way to show you care about them.
  • Whether you can stay home with your loved ones or are in a long-distance relationship, writing a sincere card or love letter telling them how grateful you are for them is always appreciated! This can also be a fun activity for children, as you pull out the art supplies and get creative with DIY cards.
  • Plan a fun game night for two, or do one with your friends. If you want to spice things up, you can even have some cocktails or snacks on the side. If you’re spending Valentine’s Day apart from your family, this is a perfect chance to Zoom or Skype and do a virtual game night.
  • Instead of a night out on the town, stay inside instead and have a movie marathon. Your lineup could include your favorite chick flicks, action or horror movies, whatever suits your fancy.
  • An at-home spa day with some relaxing lotions or bath bombs can be the perfect way to bond with your significant other or to take some time for yourself. Valentine’s Day is about love, and it doesn’t have to be romantic love. If it is just you, take advantage of this time to love yourself and put self-care first.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about romantic love - if it is just you, use the day to practice some self-care. Make this holiday an opportunity to relax and recharge yourself or with those near and dear to your heart.
